Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using linuxtoaster ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

linuxtoaster is a command-line tool that provides AI-powered assistance for terminal operations. The Service consists of:

• The toast CLI application
• The toastd local daemon
• Cloud infrastructure at linuxtoaster.com for API routing and billing

3. Account and API Keys

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. You agree to:

• Keep your API keys secure and not share them
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

When using BYOK (Bring Your Own Key), you are subject to the terms of the respective AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) in addition to these terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or billing
• Reverse engineer the Service beyond what is permitted by law
• Resell or redistribute access to the Service without authorization

5. Payment and Refunds

Prepaid Credits: Credits are non-refundable but do not expire. You may top off at any time.

Subscriptions: Billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; service continues until the end of the billing period.

6. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or damages resulting from use of the Service.

7. Data and Privacy

See our Privacy Policy for details on data collection and handling. In summary:

• We do not store your prompts or AI responses on our servers
• BYOK traffic goes directly to your provider
• Local data (.crumbs, .chat) stays on your machine

8. Intellectual Property

The linuxtoaster software, branding, and documentation are owned by us. You retain ownership of any content you create using the Service. AI-generated outputs are subject to the terms of the underlying AI provider.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these terms. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
